Review of Prezi

Prezi Reviewed 21 Dec 2009 · Average score 46%

Summary

The website is relatively easy to use, but the presentation tool is built in Flash without accessibility options. Keyboard access is limited, it does not work with a NVDA and has limited additional formats for video and images unless they are part of the text added. However, it may well help those who need a very visual way of working and is easy to use without too many trials before producing a simple presentation.

Detailed Results

# Test Outcome Notes
1 Login, Signup and Other Forms Accessible 67% The sign up page for the free version has a ReCaptcha which was really hard to hear so although in theory it has been made more accessible it was still difficult.
2 Image ALT Attributes 0% The images that appear on all the pages do not appear accessible when used as links and there is no option to add alt attributes when uploading images.
3 Link Target Definitions 67% Links on the web pages about the product are good and those on the program are understandable.
4 Frame Titles and Layout 100% There do not appear to be any frames but as it has been built using Flash without accessibility options the layout is not accessible.
5 Removal of Stylesheet 0% It is sad that the website is accessible when the style sheet is removed. However the actual presentation tool disappears when the style sheet is removed which illustrates how inaccessible it is to screen reader and keyboard users.
6 Audio/Video Features 33% The only way to provide alternatives to media imported is to add it to the actual presentation and realistically one would have to provide a completely different format for those with visual difficulties.
7 Video/animations - audio descriptions 33% These would have to already be embedded within the imported file as an extra to any animations or videos. Realistically alternative formats would have to be offered.
8 Appropriate use of Tables 100% There are no tables used for content or design on the web pages or within the presentation tool.
9 Tab Orderings Correct and Logical 0% On the web pages tab order is good and logical but sadly the actual presentation tools are not accessible via a keyboard.
10 Page Functionality with Keyboard 0% The web pages are reasonable accessible with a keyboard but the presentation tool cannot be accessed via keyboard only.
11 Accessibility of Text Editors 0% There are no real text editor, the presentation tool just adds a text box and there are options to make the text a heading or bold. It is not keyboard or screen reader accessible. Some text to speech programs could access the text when in edit mode.
12 Appropriate Feedback with Forms 33% It is hard to grade this one when using the presentation tool. If the text does not appear on the screen you know you have done something wrong but it is not screen reader accessible.
13 Contrast and Colour Check 67% There are several themes for the presentation and if you choose a white with black background or high contrast it is possible to make easy to read screens.
14 Page Integrity when Zooming 100% This is good which ever browser is used and the presentation tool has its own zoom features.
15 Text size, style, blinking elements and Readability 100% Limited text sizing choices are possible when making a presentation but there is no blinking elements unless a user chooses to add an animation and all text can be made readable.
